Event Details
Beyond the curtain a piano plays, the song somber yet wistful. A hushed whisper interrupts the music followed by a startled gasp. The usher gives a reassuring smile then pulls the curtain aside.
The room is warm, on the raw brick walls hang vibrant paintings. To your right sits a beautiful woman at the piano, her touch on the keys gentle yet deliberate. To your left you see a small group of sharply dressed men and women focused on something out of sight. At a well stocked bar straight ahead the bartender polishes a wine glass.
“This isn’t so bad.” you think to yourself as you make your way to the bar.
“Can I take your coat?” comes a friendly voice from behind.
The gentleman, dressed in a stylish three piece tuxedo, smiles and holds out his hand.
He waits patiently as you slip off the heavy coat and hand it to him, and he gives you a bright red ticket in return.
“Please, make yourself at home.”
You make your way to the bar and order a glass of blood red wine then turn to observe the room.
The group of watchers whisper among themselves. Whatever has their attention remains out of your line of sight.
“What could it possibly be?” you wonder and, as thought to answer you, the crowd separates. Before them you see the figure of a woman, posed in a elegant pirouette. Her eyes catch yours for a fleeting moment as she slowly spins.
“She looks like she belongs in a snow globe.” one of the female spectators muses.
As you look closer you can see the dancer is not so much dancing but more on display. She poses, frozen in mid maneuver as she spins about. Her outfit is made of rope - red and white - woven around her arms and chest, between her thighs, through her legs, and binding her feet.
The sight titillates. Your drink wets your lips and you realize - her feet are not touching the ground.
“Welcome to The Black Tied Fete, I hope you enjoy your stay.”
